Instagram Quiz
As part of the Indian Space Week 2024 celebrations, IEDC GECBH organized the Instagram Quiz Challenge from August 12th to 16th, 2024. Daily space-themed questions covering astronomy, space science, and ISRO missions were posted at 8:00 PM on Instagram. Supported by Kerala Startup Mission and LAUNCH, the event had a prize pool of ₹500 and saw enthusiastic participation from students.
Technical Talk on Plasma Analyser Package for Aditya (PAPA)On September 12, 2024, IEDC hosted a technical talk by Dr. R. Satheesh Thampi, Head of the Planetary Science Branch at VSSC. Held at Zoom IT, the session focused on the Aditya-L1 mission and the role of the PAPA instrument in analyzing solar plasma. Dr. Thampi discussed technical challenges, mitigation strategies, and the significance of solar studies, concluding with an engaging Q&A session.
IEDC Summit 2024The IEDC Summit 2024, held at NIT Calicut, brought together innovators and entrepreneurs from across Kerala. The summit featured keynote speeches, technical workshops, startup expos, and live pitching sessions. GEC Barton Hill had an active presence, with multiple students participating in various events.
Innovative DigestsIEDC GECBH launched 'Innovative Digests', a weekly series of curated news articles on emerging technologies, groundbreaking projects, and innovation trends. This initiative aimed to keep students informed and inspired, fostering a culture of continuous learning and curiosity about the latest advancements in science and technology.

Industry-Academia Collaboration – Talk Session
In 2024, IEDC organized an Industry-Academia Collaboration session with professionals from Nexforce and Infosys. The event bridged the gap between academic learning and industry needs, highlighting applications of AI, cloud computing, and IoT. Students and faculty gained insights into curriculum improvements, project development, and internship opportunities.
Women in Startup – SPAx Event 2024Organized in collaboration with IEEE WIE AG GEC Barton Hill and IEEE Kerala Section, this flagship event promoted women in entrepreneurship. It included panel discussions, mentorship circles, pitch sessions, and leadership workshops tailored for aspiring women entrepreneurs, creating a supportive and inclusive startup ecosystem.
Logo Design Competition 2025
IEDC launched a creative Logo Design Competition in 2025, inviting students, alumni, and creatives to design a logo reflecting innovation and entrepreneurship. Entries were judged based on creativity, originality, and relevance, strengthening IEDC’s visual identity and encouraging community involvement.
AIntroduction to Project Management in TechOn February 5, 2025, IEDC and the Institution’s Innovation Council hosted a webinar by Mr. Dinesh Venkateswaran, Manager at EY Ireland. The session introduced participants to project management methodologies, tools, and industry best practices, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

The session featured Mr. Dinesh Venkateswaran, Manager at EY Ireland, as the speaker. Organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council in collaboration with IEDC GECBH, the session promised valuable insights from industry practice, focusing on the key roles, methodologies, and tools used in modern tech project management.
Beginner’s LeagueThe Beginner’s League is a 1-week online tech competition conducted by IEDC GEC Barton Hill (GECBH) in collaboration with IEDC LBS. Designed to be inclusive and fun, the event welcomes students from nine colleges to explore, learn, and compete in a friendly innovation-driven environment

“Unmute” – Group Discussion Event
As part of leadership and innovation skill-building, IEDC facilitated “Unmute,” a group discussion event designed to enhance students’ communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. This platform encouraged students to express their views on innovation-driven themes, thereby nurturing confidence and collaboration. In summary, the year 2024–25 has been a period of meaningful progress and renewed purpose for IEDC GEC Barton Hill. Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025:
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) of GEC Barton Hill actively participated in Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, one of India’s largest nationwide innovation challenges aimed at fostering creative solutions to real-world problems. The top- performing teams from the internal hackathon were selected to represent GEC Barton Hill in the Smart India Hackathon 2025 National Round. These teams received guidance, mentoring, and technical support from IEDC to refine their solutions and enhance their presentations

IEDC Ideathon 2025 (College Level Pitchfest Series)
IEDC Ideathon 2025 was organized to identify and promote innovative ideas in Electronics and Technology, serving as the college-level qualifier for the Statewide Pitchfest Series. Over 25 teams registered, and 5 shortlisted teams presented their ideas in an online pitching session. Top teams were selected to represent GEC Barton Hill at the State-Level Pitchfest and will receive mentorship support. The event effectively encouraged entrepreneurship and creativity among students, contributing to the Kerala Startup Mission’s goal of fostering innovation-driven startups.
